Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Longtime Clark resident, Cathy L.
Fraser McGregor age 65, passed away in the morning hours of January 6, 2018 after a longtime sickness. Cathy was born in Powell on February 22, 1952. Cathy grew up in Worland and graduated from Worland High School in 1970. An overachiever, Cathy was heavily involved in school activities, and completed her "God and County" merits with the Girl Scouts while working at the Center of the West Girl Scout Camp south of Ten Sleep. Cathy graduated from Northwest College in 1972 and the University of Wyoming in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education
Set up by neighbors, Cathy met her husband Billy while she was working and living in Clark in 1976. Cathy and Billy raised their two boys Corey and William in Clark, both graduating from Belfry High School. In Clark, she gave her two sons a caring, independent, and rugged upbringing; she watched her boys grow to be outdoor enthusiasts and to her chagrin: daredevils. She spent time with her sons and encouraged them to celebrate their interests, and to work hard to be able to live the life they wanted.
In her professional life, Cathy was an educator, completing her student teaching in Powell. Cathy worked as a teacher for Head Start in Powell, a substitute and full-time teacher in Clark, an elementary school teacher for many years in Belfry Montana, and later a teacher to Korean students for Eleutian Technology. The teaching life treated Cathy well, because her free summers meant she could spend every day with her two boys as they grew up. Cathy worked hard in her career, enhanced by a passion for rural education and special education, to teach to her students with creative measures tailored to their individual needs. Cathy connected well with her students - often working hours well beyond the school day and outside the limits of the school year to ensure that her students had the knowledge and skills to analyze and learn thoughtfully their entire lives.
Cathy was also involved and helpful in meeting the needs of her small community, working tirelessly long hours to help found the Clark Recreation Center in the early 1990's
In addition to her love of her family, students, and community – she held a lifelong love of learning, reflected in her impressive personal library. The books she collected were well cared for, organized, and often given as gifts to family and friends.
Cathy is here in spirit with her family, Corey & Tanya McGregor; Caryn & Brad Agee; Cammy Fraser; Jess, Mike, Carson, Cobie, & Caedie Balaszi; Trent Agee; and numerous other family and friends.
Cathy's passion for supporting the education of the youth and individuals with disabilities will be forever imprinted on the people she touched. Donations may be made in Cathy's name to Wyoming Disabled Hunters, PO Box 2232, Cody, WY 82414.
A Celebration of Life is pending and will be announced at a later date.
