Mary Margaret (Brubaker) Leithead

Mary Margaret (Brubaker) Leithead 77, passed away on January 10, 2018 after a short illness with cancer.

Mary Margaret was the third child born to Clifford L. Brubaker and Mary (Taylor) Brubaker in Worland, WY on June 29, 1940. She was raised on the family ranch located on Spring Creek. As a young girl she spent her youth helping her father with the sheep and all the chores that go along with that. Mary Margaret was schooled in Ten Sleep from first to tenth grade. The family then moved to Manderson and she graduated as a Manderson Demon in 1958. After high school, Mary Margaret worked a few years for Mountain Bell in Worland as a telephone operator.

On November 26, 1961 she married Gerald "Jed" Leithead at St. Alban Episcopal Church in Worland. They lived on the Leithead family ranch on the Lower Nowood with their three children Dennis Scott Leithead, Jerilyn Rae (Leithead) Wickard, and Jodi Renee Leithead who were the love of her life. There were many fond memories made here as she followed their activities in sports and 4-H. Later in life, she was particularly proud of her two grandsons Bobby and Jared who were state champion wrestlers. She enjoyed baking for her family and it was this culinary skill – baking that Mary Margaret became a family legend. Her rolls and pies melted in your mouth. It was not a holiday meal unless you had Margo rolls to grace your dinner table. She perfected her craft for many years while she worked at both the Flagstaff and Crazy Woman Cafes. Patrons, hunters, friends and family far and wide always looked forward to a slice of Mary Margaret pie when they landed in Ten Sleep. Mary Margaret was also famous for her 4th of July picnics she hosted for family and friends. Here again, she treated her guests to her fine dining abilities all day long, into the evening and even after the street dance.

Mary Margaret is survived by her son Dennis (Tarina) Leithead and their children Michaelina and Kane of Laramie, WY and Ace of Wright, WY, her daughter Jerilyn Wickard of Wright, WY and her grandson Bobby and great granddaughter Brooklyn of Cheyenne, WY, her granddaughter Joslyn Wickard and great-grandson A.J. Harper, and her grandson Jared Leithead of Cheyenne. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Dooley of Worland, and her brothers Bobby (Carla) Brubaker of Ten Sleep, Larry (Valerie) Brubaker of Kaycee and her many nephews and nieces whom she loved. She also leaves her dear friends Becky Cooper, Kathy Bush, Megan Truman and Sonja Smith who gave her so much comfort and love these past few years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jed and her daughter Jodi.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Ten Sleep with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Ten Sleep Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations can be made to the Ten Sleep Lions Club. Veile Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
