Freida Keller, born to Jacob and Alice (Mills) Strecker, April 28, 1916 in Lyman, Nebraska passed away January 23, 2018. She grew up in Lyman, NE going to school until the eighth grade. Freida had eight siblings.
She met the love of her life, Edward Keller Sr. in 1934. They were married February 24, 1935 in Mitchell, NE. The newlyweds worked for her parents and later Freida, Ed, her oldest two children, and her parents moved to Hardin, MT. They worked for her parents until 1936, then Ed took a job building the Holly Sugar Factory in Hardin for the next two years.
In 1939-1942 they worked for various farmers in Hardin, MT. In the spring of 1942 Freida and Edward started farming on their own. They farmed until 1951, when they sold out and built a house in Hardin, Montana. In 1958 they came to Worland and farmed with their sons (Ed Keller & Sons) then built a house in 1972 and retired in 1983. Two short years later Edward passed away.
Freida was so talented. She just had a way of creating beauty, she could cook anything, bake anything, oil paint, work with wood, cut thousands of rocks for jewelry, made over a hundred porcelain dolls, firing the bodies, and making all the clothes, and oh how beautiful her flowers were. She had as high as 192 rose bushes in her yard.
She was born a farmer and now is in heaven caring for the beautiful flowers there.
Freida was preceded in death by her husband Edward Keller, two sons, Randy Ray Keller and Conrad Gene Keller, two grandsons, Floydie Schaneman and John Weir, two son-in-laws, Floyd Schaneman and Fred Schneider, and one daughter-in-law, Shauna Keller.
She is survived by Betty (Floyd) Schaneman of Billings, MT, Edward Jr. (Darlene) Keller of Billings, MT, Edna (Fred) Schneider of Billings, MT, Wayne (Marjorie) Keller of Worland, Joan (Alvin) Hanneman of Casper, Marilyn (Ron) Weir of Graettinger, IA, and Joni (Conrad) Keller of Broomfield, CO. Her legacy also includes 28 grandkids, 63 great-grandkids, 42 great-great-grandkids, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held at Veile Mortuary Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 3-6pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 1 at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. Ralph Partelow officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland.
