WORLAND — WHS debate team witnessed another win this weekend at their tournament in Jackson Hole.
“We won overall for small schools,” Rick Dorn, the debate team coach, said.
“There were some kids who advanced in every area that they were entered in, including Jack Vines, Kaitlyn Bostrom, and Rachael Carver, he said.
Carver was entered in cross examination debate and poetry. Bostrom took part in duet acting and impromptu speaking. Vines has gone into finals in duet acting, impromptu speaking, and poetry reading.
Kailynn Deniz won overall in informative speaking.
“The team is doing better than I expected this season, so I’ve been pleased.” Dorn said. “We have a lot of beginners, and they’re all catching on quick.”
As for the Jackson meet, Dorn said, “Overall there were 11 teams at the meet. We were up against six of them for small schools.”
Out of all 11 teams, WHS placed fourth this weekend.
The team’s next meet will be at Natrona County High School next week in Casper.
