Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
J. Clyde Slane, age 82, passed away on January 26, 2018. He was born February 16, 1935 at the family home in Lucerne, Wyoming, the oldest of three children. Clyde grew up in Thermopolis, Wyoming where he graduated high school. He attended college in both Casper and Powell, Wyoming. As a young man, Clyde worked in the oil field, and later began driving trucks for a living. After a long career and millions of miles, he retired from Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals as a distribution supervisor.
Clyde married the love of his life, Jean Louise Abbott, on September 25, 1959, and from that moment on she was the center of his world. At the time of Jean's death in 2017. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being with friends and family. After Clyde retired, they enjoyed being "snowbirds" first in St. George, Utah and later in Parker, Arizona for many winters.
Clyde also had a passion for growing and tending roses, with more than thirty different roses in his yard. He greatly enjoyed admiring his roses on a summer evening while sipping a glass of good merlot.
Clyde is survived by his brother, Richard Slane (Linda), his sister Dorothy Romango (Harry), his daughter Patti Jolly, son-in-law Byron Jolly, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, February 2nd at 2 pm at Bustard's Funeral Home, with a reception following at Casper Church of Christ.
