Worland hosts North Big Horn Basin high school music festival

WORLAND — Worland High School is the 2018 host for the North Big Horn Basin High School Music Festival this Friday and Saturday.

During festival large and small band and choir groups, as well as soloists and ensembles perform in front of adjudicators and are given a rating of excellent, superior, good, fair or poor.

Worland High School band director Willie Wright said the public is encouraged to come and watch the performances. The large group performances will be on Friday with the choirs performing in the little theater at the high school and the bands performing at the middle school auditorium.

Soloists and ensembles will perform on Saturday.

The instrumental adjudicators are Aemalemalo Seui from Cheyenne South High School, Eugene Hernandez from Cheyenne South High School, and Dan Holroyd from Cheyenne East High School, according to Wright.

Chad Rose, WHS choir director, said the vocal adjudicators are Beth Kean from LCCC, Nathaniel Gillette from Riverton High School, Anne Schatz from Burns High School and Jennifer Schultze from the Wyoming Virtual School.

The Worland concert choir will perform first on Friday at 8 a.m. WHS Marshazz performs at 9 a.m., and Treblesome performs at 10 a.m.

For the band groups, WHS jazz ensemble I performs at 11 a.m., WHS jazz ensemble II plays at 2 p.m., the WHS symphonic band performs at 4 p.m. and WHS percussion ensemble will close Friday’s performances at 4:30 p.m.

10:30 a.m. — Cody singing ensemble

1 p.m. — Hot Springs County modern performance

1:30 p.m. — PHS concert choir

2 p.m. — CHS Synergy

2:30 p.m. — Rocky Mountain High School choir

3 p.m. — PHS Erocne

3:30 p.m. — HSC concert choir

4 p.m. — Greybull concert choir
