WORLAND - The awards and recognition for the Worland Warriors boys soccer team keeps coming. This time Warrior head coach Ron Overcast received the accolade by being named the 3A Boys soccer coach of the year by the Wyoming Coaches Association.
Overcast coached the 2018 Warriors to their first 3A State soccer title in program history with a 2-1, extra time victory over Star Valley in Jackson on May 17-19.
The Warriors boasted the best record in 3A with a 14-1 regular season record, their only loss coming by 4A Green River in a shootout during the time shortened Southwest Invitational tournament; allowed only nine goals during the regular season, best in 3A; and had the second-best goal-differential at +38.
Several of Overcast's players were also recognized for their individual play this season. Matt Gesch, Konnor Macy, Rylan Mocko and Wyatt Wyman all picked up All-State honors. Those four along with JT Klinghagen and Devon Mercado were named to the 3A West All-Conference team.
