Local chiropractor receives national award

WORLAND – During the 10th annual Symposium for the American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics in Dallas, Texas, Worland chiropractor Dr. Sarah Radabaugh became the first recipient of the Annual Pediatric Chiropractor of the Year award.

“I’m so floored, I had no idea. I was very humbled and honored. I get so many fulfillments out of treating children. It’s just a joy to see the changes in their lives and to be able to, when you are treating a child and impacting their health, you have the opportunity to change the entire trajectory of their life as far as helping to prevent an entire lifetime of headaches or postural problems to other things,” Radabaugh said.

Radabaugh went on to explain that she knew the award was going to be awarded for the first time during the symposium but that she never expected to be the recipient. She explained that the winner was chosen by their peers, other chiropractors and that she feels that she was nominated because of her involvement with a research study which tracked pediatric patients through 60 chiropractic visits and how those patients did.

Pediatric chiropractic care is a passion for Radabaugh. “I have done a ton of extra training, on my own, in treating children and babies because I am so passionate about it. I have seen so many amazing changes in children and babies and I enjoy seeing them. We love having a crazy chaotic environment and working with challenging toddlers. I actually enjoy kids of all ages. The most amazing stuff I get to see, like colicky babies are my favorite patients to treat. Very often they have just had some trauma during birth, birth can be traumatic, even a normal birth for their little tiny necks. What we see is with some really gentle adjustments, they just calm down, they sleep better, they are less fussy and they eat better,” Radabaugh said. “The whole family is happier because they are all getting some sleep,” she added.

The American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics (also known as the ACA Pediatrics Council) was established in 2005. The council’s goals are to support their members who take care of children in their chiropractic practices, and to promote the acceptance and advancement of pediatric chiropractic care.
