Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Ten Sleep's Peterson serving as Washakie County 4-H intern

WORLAND – Now that summer’s here, summer internships have started up and this year helping with the Washakie County 4-H programs is Aften Peterson from Ten Sleep.

“I’ve been involved in 4-H for a lot of my summers growing up and it seemed like a really neat opportunity,” Peterson said. “Amber [Armajo, Extension educator] had reached out and asked me to consider it. The more I thought about it, the more I thought I would enjoy it. When I was a past FFA officer, I had really enjoyed my time serving and working with the youth of agriculture and the next generation. I just saw this as a new opportunity to do just that.”

4-H has been a part of Peterson’s life since she was a child. Some of her projects have included showing pigs, sheep and even cake decorating. Peterson was involved for nine years.

According to Peterson, some of her projects will be gearing up for camps, helping with the 4-H exchange program, CultureFest and the Showcase Showdown.

Peterson is currently studying at Casper College to get her agriculture communication degree. “I’ve tossed around the idea of a career in sales, and working with ‘ag’ pharmaceuticals.”
