Milo Hall leaving UW football program

CHEYENNE – University of Wyoming redshirt junior Milo Hall announced Thursday morning on Twitter that he is leaving the Cowboys football program.

"The last few years have been a roller-coaster for me due to the loss of my older brother," Hall wrote. "My story is far from finished, as I like to think it's just beginning."

Hall's older brother, Gailen "Gator" Armstrong, was murdered July 30, 2016.

Hall was the Cowboys' starting running back last season. He gained 90 yards on 34 carries before being replaced by true freshman Trey Woods.

Hall also caught five passes for 21 yards during 12 games in 2017.

"(Hall) has been a true team player during his time here at Wyoming, playing running back, wide receiver and special teams for us," UW coach Craig Bohl said in a statement from the school. "We wish Milo all the best in his future."

Hall, a 5-foot-8, 184-pounder, moved to wide receiver during spring practice. He was not listed on the three-deep depth chart at either receiver position after spring practice.

"I've met some lifelong friends at (Wyoming), and I wish everyone the best of luck in the future," wrote Hall, who also thanked Cowboys assistants Mike Bath and Mike Grant personally in his tweet.

Hall was a three-star recruit out of Cherry Creek High in Greenwood Village, Colorado, where he was named Colorado's Class 5A player of the year. He verbally committed to Colorado State initially but committed too late to get a scholarship as part of the Rams' 2015 signing class.

He was supposed to be a preferred walk-on at CSU but flipped his pledge and accepted a scholarship from UW that May.
