Robert "Bob" Wayne Cook

Robert "Bob" Wayne Cook, 88 passed away on July 3, 2018 at Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody, WY. He was born on April 12, 1930 in Taylorville, the son of Chester Leroy and Elva Anita (Brookens) Cook. Many hours of his youth were spent under the supervision and guidance of Margaret Sams. After graduating from Taylorville High School in 1948, Bob joined the Navy and served on the USS Robert K. Huntington as a Sonarman until 1952. On May 16, 1953 he married Alice Louise Stanton in Taylorville. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2009. He worked as a Journeyman Lineman for CIPS in Effingham, IL until he retired in 1990. At that time, Alice and Bob moved to Cheyenne, WY where with the help of family and friends they built a log home. He was a 50 year member of the Toledo Masonic Lodge.

Survivors are his sons: Robert William (Jill) Cook of Paris, IL and David Wayne (Christina) Cook of Sellersville, PA; daughters: Merri Margaret (Daniel) Miller of Worland, WY and Lesli Louise (Harry) Faith of Woodbine, MD; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Rosetta (Jack) Neal of Sun City West, AZ, Marcia Shelite of Pana, IL; brother: Larry Cook of Belleville, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Leroy Cook and Stanley Cook; and sisters: Mary Elizabeth Murray, Minnie Griffin, and Janice Beck, and Judy Zeitler.

Graveside services will be at 10 am Saturday, July 14 at Old Stonington Cemetery near Stonington, IL.
