WORLAND – The Hot Springs County Fair in Thermopolis runs from July 30 – Aug. 3, officially beginning with the dog show at 6 p.m. Monday evening. However the horse show is Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. in the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds multi-purpose building.
The shooting competition is Tuesday at 1 p.m. Contestants will compete in archery, air rifle and air pistol at the multi-purpose building in the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. “People are welcome to go and watch the kids shooting if they would like,” Hot Springs County UW Extension secretary Vicki Nichols said.
Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. is pig wrestling, sponsored by the FFA Alumni.
Wednesday is a full day of events with the cat show beginning at 10 a.m. The rabbit show begins at 11 a.m. with the poultry show following directly after. At 2 p.m. is the goat show followed by the sheep show at 3 p.m.
The Kiddi Pet Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. “The kids can bring in their cat or dog or if they have an iguana they can carry it through the little parade. Pocket pets, whatever they might have they can bring in and show off their critters to everybody,” Nichols said. She added that there will be no judging.
Family Fun Night begins at 7 p.m. with live music for dancing. The band performing is Tris Munsic and the Innocents from Sheridan. Music performed will be country, alternative country and Wyoming country music.
There will also be inflatables for the children to play on, Nichols said.
The swine show starts Thursday at 8 a.m. A chili cook off, sponsored by the FFA Alumni is being held at 5 p.m. and the beef show is at 6 p.m.
Friday, the round robins, showcasing champion showmen from throughout the week, begin at 10 a.m. The pre-sale buyers dinner is at 6 p.m., with the conclusion of the fair, the judges’ choice bake sale and junior livestock auction beginning at 7 p.m.
