Crews fighting Black Mountain Road fire

WORLAND – Firefighting crews from several agencies are on the scene of an estimated 2,500-acre fire roughly 30 miles south of Worland, (7 miles north of Thermopolis) on Black Mountain Road, affecting both private and public lands.

First reported at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the fire quickly spread due to dry conditions.

Agencies responding include Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Hot Springs State Park and fire crews from Thermopolis and Worland.

According to the BLM, the teams had the fire 75 percent contained by Friday evening.
