WORLAND – The Worland High School Black Thunder marching band is preparing for their state competition.
On Tuesday, Warrior Stadium will be the host site for the annual marching band invitational. Other marching bands joining Black Thunder are Riverton, Cody and Buffalo.
With 85 students in the Black Thunder marching band, their preparation began back in July with their preseason camp. Black Thunder recently exhibited their skills at the homecoming parade on Friday and again that night at the homecoming game halftime show.
According to band director Chad Rose, the invitational is a great way to interact with some clinicians that have experience with marching band. "They can give us a lot of pointers going into our state competition in mid-October," Rose said. "It also gives us a chance to sneak peek at what the other bands are doing."
Tuesday's schedule includes Cody High School's opening performance at 4 p.m., followed by Riverton High School's performance at 4:30, Buffalo High School at 5 with Worland's closing performance at 5:30.
