5th annual Oktobrewfest fun for the whole family

WORLAND – After a long week of work and school, adults and children alike can experience a day of family fun at the 5th annual Oktobrewfest, sponsored by Main Street Thermopolis, Saturday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The event is held on Broadway between Fourth and Fifth street, which will be blocked off to traffic.

According to Hot Springs County Chamber of Commerce Director Meri Ann Rush, event goers can find children’s activities, such as a bouncy house, life-sized checkerboard and participate in creating sidewalk art.

If music is your thing, you are in luck. Music will be playing the whole time, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. with Tanner Harmon, Don Haley, Eric Kay, Buffalo Scout, Kerry Wallace, Hot Springs Dance, LLC and the Rewinders performing throughout the event.

A variety of merchandise vendors will provide an opportunity for shopping for the upcoming holiday season and if you’re hungry, food vendors will also be available.

What would an Oktobrewfest be without the brew? Several Wyoming breweries will be showcased, mostly from the western part of the state. If beer isn’t your thing there will also be a full bar available. Rush stated that to imbibe in the beer, event goers need to stop at the Main Street Thermopolis tent, located next to the entertainment, to provide an identification, purchase a mug and receive a wristband. Those interested in mixed drinks need to purchase their drink tickets at the same tent.

The Main Street tent is also the place to sign up for the historic tours of Thermopolis. Rush said that there will be two tours if needed. The first tour will be at 1 p.m. and another tour will be offered at 3 p.m. if there is enough interest. The tours will be led by Ray Shaffer.

While at the Main Street tent, event goers can also sign up for the cornhole tournament which will be held at 3 p.m.

Event goers who have had too much to drink and live within city limits are asked to go to the Main Street tent to receive a courtesy ride home. If event goers live outside of town, they are asked to bring a designated driver. Don’t drink and drive.
