Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Annual gala promotes cancer awareness and raises funds for local patients
WORLAND – The 24th annual Gorgeous Gals Gala is this Saturday at the Worland Community Center Complex.
The event, put on by the Gorgeous Gals and the Worland Business and Professional Women’s organization starts at 6 p.m. with a cocktail social featuring wine and beer, a dinner around 7 p.m. and entertainment around 8 p.m.
The Gorgeous Gals will provide the entertainment around a game show theme.
This year’s theme is “Give Cancer the Boot.”
Proceeds from the dinner tickets support cancer awareness and program needs throughout the Big Horn Basin. “We’re trying to make money for cancer awareness. This year we’ve been able to help a lot of Washakie County cancer patients with transportation and comfort needs,” co-organizer Meg Stark said. “We support the bus that comes around the Big Horn Basin for radiation treatments.”
They also have gas cards available at the cancer center in Cody for patients who need them.
Proceeds from the raffle, with six prizes to be given away, support the B&PW scholarships and the Gorgeous Gals.
The Gorgeous Gals are all cancer survivors. They range in age from their 30s to their 80s. Some have been survivors for a few short months, others for many years. All have managed to maintain their sense of humor and the desire to help educate the public about cancer in a light, entertaining way.
