WORLAND – Washakie county voters went to the polls Tuesday, electing new members to the county’s two school boards, and cementing county seats for incumbents who ran largely unopposed.
WORLAND – Washakie county voters went to the polls Tuesday, electing new members to the county’s two school boards, and cementing county seats for incumbents who ran largely unopposed.
For Washakie County School District No. 1 (Worland) new board member Sarah Lungren was elected with 1,981 votes. Current board member Don Bryant was re-elected with 1,984 votes, along with Terri Logan with 1,647 votes and Duane Whitlock with 1,805 votes. Anna Venable lost her bid for re-election with only 1,279 final votes. All terms are four years.
For Washakie County School District No. 2 (Ten Sleep), Mona Sindelar was elected to the board, with 182 votes, along with Megan Truman with 245 votes. Both will serve four-year terms.
Tessia Greet and Jane Thurston did not seek re-election to the Ten Sleep board.
All school board members will take office in December.
COUNTY
All Washakie County officials were unopposed in the general election.
County Commissioners Terry Wolf (2,263 votes) and Fred Frandson (2,403 votes) will continue in their current positions.
County Coroner Jeff Lapp received 2,876 votes.
County Attorney John Worrall received 2,657 votes.
Washakie County Sheriff Steven Rakness received 2,803 votes.
County Clerk Mary Grace Strauch received 2,866 votes.
County Treasurer Doris Kern received 2,895 votes.
County Assessor Kathryn Treanor received 2,772 votes.
Clerk of District Court Suzann Whitlock received 2,762 votes.
SPECIAL DISTRICTS
Elected to the Worland Fire Protection District were Lance Berryman with 1,332 votes, and Brad Horath with 1,397 votes. District Board Chairman Dale Link garnered 1,059 in his unsuccessful bid for re-election. Edward J. Gross III was also on the ballot, with 461 votes.
For the Washakie County Conservation District (Rural), Charles Orchard was elected with 2,368 votes, and Dan Rice with 2,316.
For the Washakie County Conservation District (Urban), Vance Lungren Sr. was elected with 2,451 votes.
Robert Compton (311 votes), Frederick A. Drake (297 votes) and J. F. Haggerty (313 votes) were elected to the Ten Sleep Cemetery District.
Votes for the Washakie Rural Improvement and Service District expansion had to be hand counted and were not available by press time.
According to the county clerk’s office, Washakie County has 4,015 registered voters, with 3,145 votes cast in Tuesday’s election.
