Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND - The Washakie County Law Enforcement Center will be hosting its annual Shop with a Cop this year on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 9 a.m.
The local program began in 2015 as a way to give back to the community and to promote a positive relationship with the youth in the area. When the program began, all of the funds were provided by employees of the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office, Worland Police Department and Wyoming Highway Patrol. In the years since the program started, local businesses and individuals in the community have generously sponsored the program to help change the lives of dozens of families during the holiday season.
On Dec.8, local law enforcement center will volunteer their time to spend with the children who have been selected by the program, take them to local stores of their choosing and purchase gifts for their family members using the funds from the program.
Once the shopping event has ended, the children will be brought back to the law enforcement center where the officers will help them with the wrapping and labeling of their gifts while enjoying a snack and getting to know one another.
Anyone wishing to know more about the program can contact the law enforcement center at 307-347-2242.
