Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Heidi Lynn Kay

Heidi Lynn Kay crossed over peacefully from this earth, with family by her side on October 25th, 2018.

She was born to Dennis and Sharon Kay on April 17th, 1963 in Lakewood, Colorado. She was fortunate to have lived in many states. She spent most of her later school years in Buffalo, Wyoming and graduated from Worland Sr. High School in Worland, Wyoming in 1981. She attended Utah State University before doing an internship in Denver and then settling in Conifer, Colorado for ten years. In 2002 she moved to Driggs to be near her beloved nephew as he grew up.

Heidi grew up happy and busy and making friends for whom she would do anything for. As a young woman, she taught skiing, was a gymnast, champion swimmer, and adored all animals. She was stubborn and determined. Her sense of humor was quirky and quick. She loved writing, poetry, books, and exploring. She was kind to everyone, easy to talk to, and would teach you anything she knew if you asked her.

She loved to travel and was able to visit countries all over the world. The journey was most important to her, whether it be on a trip, or in the kitchen. She loved learning and the process of learning new things. She was an amazing cook, for years she would bake a thousand Christmas cookies and make elaborately decorated boxes and ship those cookies all over the world. She was always in search for the perfect buttercream for the cupcakes she was called to make time and again!

Her family adored her. According to her nephew, she was ruthless at board games, to her brother in law, she was late, stubborn, bossy, and she would do anything for you! To her sister she was brutally honest and wise beyond her years. To her mother, she was full of surprises her whole life!

Locally, she owned a successful property management company. She enjoyed volunteering with the Seniors of the West. She looked forward to each Election Day and her time with the Teton County Election Judges for many years. Heidi also was very active with the Stampin Up Gals, and the Teton Valley Loose Threads Quilt Guild. She was a very talented quilter, knitter, and paper crafter.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Dennis Smith Kay and is survived by her mother, Sharon L. Kay, and sister, Kristi Kay-Aslin, her brother in law, Doug Aslin and her dearest nephew, Tanner Aslin, whom she adored. She will be missed by so many others who crossed her path.

No services are presently planned but a celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
