Local student to perform in the 'Nutcracker'

TEN SLEEP – Ten Sleep resident and student Cachelynn Forshee is living the dream that many girls her age have, to be a ballerina and perform in a major production. This weekend she will be participating in the Rocky Mountain School of Arts 21st annual “Nutcracker” production this in Cody. There will be two performances this weekend at the Wynona Thompson Auditorium in Cody, on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Forshee stated that she was really excited and that being a ballerina is one of her favorite things to do. “I love playing all the parts and dancing,” Forshee said.

According to the Rocky Mountain School of Arts Facebook page, “[Rocky Mountain School of Arts] annual production of The Nutcracker offers members of the community, of all ages, an opportunity to participate in and contribute to a classical theatre experience, at the same time providing education in ballet and theatre techniques, academic knowledge, self-discipline, self-confidence and artistic expression. In an atmosphere of encouragement and acceptance, the Nutcracker provides experience and interaction with peers as well as professionals in dance and theatre, such as lighting and stage experts from the University of West Florida and the University of Wyoming and guest artists from the likes of New York City Ballet and the Suzanne Farrell Company of Washington, D.C. The RMDT Nutcracker is the only performance in which this type of exposure to the arts is afforded to our youth. The cast and crew work hard to ensure that The Nutcracker is of professional grade and entertaining for the community to enjoy.”

This is not the first time Forshee, who is only 8, has participated in Rocky Mountain School of Arts production of the Nutcracker, as she has danced in the show since she was 4 years old. This year she has two parts, the party child and the cotton candy greeter. Her mother, Adrienne Forshee, says she loves the cotton candy head piece.

Forshee will be sharing the spotlight with professional guest ballet dancers Natalia Magnicaballi and Michael Cook from the Suzanne Farrell Company of Washington, D.C.

Today, there will be a special performance for students with the entire Ten Sleep School elementary and Worland third grade attending.
