WORLAND – Banner Health Washakie Medical Center Plant Operations Manager Steve Wiecki came to the hospital board Thursday evening asking to use what he called attic stock flooring, excess flooring from the hospital renovation, to update the Washakie Medical Center Clinic exam rooms flooring.
He explained to the board that the only cost to the board would be for the purchase of an additional 200 square feet as he and his crew could do the installation.
After much discussion the board asked Wiecki to gather bids for the additional flooring.
Wiecki also explained to the board that he had some attic stock nora flooring which he would like to use to replace the carpet in the ultrasound room but that the board would need to pay for installation.
According to nora.com, “Nora floor coverings are made of high-quality
natural and industrial rubbers. They are mixed with minerals from natural sources and other components, such as environmentally compatible color pigments, pulled into blanks, pressed and then vulcanized under heat and high pressure. Thanks to the material’s elastic properties, our floors do not require any plasticizers. The subsequent crosslinking with nora cleanguard in the factory makes the surface dense and closed, without using any film or varnish.”
Banner Health Medical Practice Manager Anna Venable explained to the board that the carpet in the ultrasound room was very difficult to keep clean and that the nora flooring would make the room easier to clean and sterilize.
Wiecki explained to the board the he and his crew would not be able to install the nora flooring as it takes a special technique to install and would need someone familiar with the product. The board made no decision but stated that Wiecki could look for someone to do the installation.
