FEB. 4 Pioneer Home bill dies in committee

WORLAND — A bill that would have made it harder for the Wyoming Pioneer Home to accept indigent patients and require them to be self-sustaining died after having never been considered by the House Appropriations Committee.

Monday was the final day for bills to be considered for Committee of the Whole (first reading) in the house of origin. House Bill 295 was introduced last Tuesday, Jan. 29 and referred to the Appropriations Committee.

According to the bill, revenues received would be required to “equal or exceed all operational costs of the pioneer home, which are borne by the state of Wyoming.” It further stated, “The department of health shall ensure that a resident, or legal guardian applies for all benefits for which the resident is eligible.”
