WORLAND – The Northern Wyoming News received word Wednesday afternoon that the Worland Shopko store will in fact be closing. The manager, we were told, was notified of the closing on Wednesday.
The estimated day of closing is May 12.
Previously Shopko had announced the closings of the Thermopolis, April 7, and Greybull, March 2, stores and pharmacies and the Powell pharmacy in the Big Horn Basin. The Lander store has a closing of May 5, Green River May 12, Mountain View May 12.
According to Shopko spokesperson Michelle Hansen, "Today we are announcing the closure of an additional 139 Shopko and Shopko Hometown stores. We remain hopeful that we will be able to emerge as a stronger company, and we believe that this is the best course of action to make ourselves more attractive to potential buyers and successfully emerge from Chapter 11."
