On February 12, 2019, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 37 on US 16 east of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Around 1:30 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a single vehicle rollover.
A 2001 Ford F-250 was traveling westbound on US 16 when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The Ford exited the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as 46-year-old Gillette, Wyoming resident Christopher Short. Short was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor.
This is the 17th fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2019 compared to 9 in 2018, 10 in 2017, and 6 in 2016 to date.
