Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND — The new Washakie County Emergency Management/Homeland Security director is a familiar face for the county and emergency responders.
The Washakie County commissioners, after receiving nine applications and interviewing four candidates, made an offer to Kami Neighbors, who accepted late last week, Commission Chairman Fred Frandson said.
Neighbors will begin duties on April 22. She still must complete a background check with the Homeland Security and receive a formal appointment by Governor Mark Gordon.
Frandson said Neighbors has served Washakie and Big Horn counties for 14 years as the Public Health Response coordinator.
He said the requirements for both positions are similar. “She’s extremely qualified. She’ll do good,” he added.
Neighbors said Monday, “I had worked in emergency management in Alabama. The job I’ve been doing the past 14 years is on the public health side. I’ve always enjoyed emergency management. This seemed like the right time. I’m excited.”
