WORLAND – University of Wyoming Extension Offices around the state will be holding their third annual UW Signing Day Wednesday, May 1.
The UW Signing Day in Washakie County will celebrate with students from Worland and Ten Sleep.
Traditionally, student-athletes going on to play at the collegiate level have participated in a signing day with dignitaries and their parents in attendance. However, since 2017, the University of Wyoming Office of Admissions and Wyoming 4-H have partnered to give academic students who will be furthering their academic career in college the same opportunity as these athletes with a designated statewide signing day.
According to Washakie County Extension Youth and 4-H Educator Amber Armajo, approximately 14 students from Worland will be signing, and three from Ten Sleep.
"UW Signing Day in Washakie County has been great in the past with tremendous support from the school, community and families," Armajo said. "It is fun to take a few minutes out of their busy schedules and celebrate the kids planning to attend UW this fall."
Signing events are open to the public. Those attending are asked to RSVP by Monday, April 29 as there will be a reception following the signing. In order to RSVP, contact Amber Armajo at [email protected], or by calling (307) 347-3431.
The signing day starts at Worland High School at 10:35 a.m., with Ten Sleep's at Ten Sleep High School at 2 p.m.
