Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – The Washakie County Fair Board has started accepting bids to provide services for the 2019 Washakie County Fair rodeo, youth rodeo and ranch rodeo.
According to Fair Board Chairman David Doyle, the board has already received interest from multiple bidders.
The board requests to submit separate bids for each service the bidder is interested in providing, rather than packaging offers for every event interested in contracting.
The multiple rodeos have been a part of the fair for several years, the most recent addition – the ranch rodeo – coming to the fair in 2018, under the direction of James Scott.
The three rodeos taking place during the fair include the rodeo, ranch rodeo and youth rodeo.
A ranch rodeo is an event specified as a rodeo containing five different portions, each fashioned as every day chores you see at ranches. The rodeo is for cowpokes to be able to show off their skills with events including wild cow milking, trailer loading, team branding and ranch bronc riding. According to Doyle, a large difference with the ranch rodeo is it having events of where rodeo first started.
This compares to the regular rodeo events such as bull riding, bareback and bronc riding, barrel racing and team roping. The rodeo has been a part of the Washakie County Fair for over 30 years.
The youth rodeo has been a part of the fair for over 10 years. Its events include an introduction to rough stock events with an emphasis on safety and fundamentals. Youth Rodeo events include those under 18.
According to Doyle, those bidding in these events will be put through an approval process and meet the scope of services. The scope of services includes having contracted on similar events similar in the region. In choosing a bidder, Doyle said cost won’t be the only thing being assessed and that the board will also be taking into account value of the services and looking at what the bidder has to offer.
Sealed bids will be accepted until May 10 at 5 p.m. For additional bidding information, contact Marty Cross at (307) 431-1078, or David Doyle at (307) 388-4408.
