Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
James Neil Wetherbee, 63, of Worland, Wyoming died on May 14, 2019, with the love of his life by his side holding his hand until the very last breath was taken. Jim fought a very long, but short courageous battle of colon cancer. He was born on February 21, 1956 to Neil and Madelon (Ryan) Wetherbee in Cody, Wyoming. Jim graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1974. Jim later became a telephone construction lineman and worked for U.S. West from 1974-1996 and RT Communications from 1996-2018. Additionally, Jim felt the need to serve his community, state, and nation through his enlistment in the Wyoming National Guard. Jim loved fly fishing with his daughters and brothers at their special place on the Big Horn River, ammo reloading & shooting, and woodworking with his wife Jennifer. He was also involved with the Worland Toastmasters, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wyoming, and shed hunting across the mountains and plains. He loved his Wyoming Cowboys, Colorado Rockies, and the Denver Broncos, even when they were losing.
Jim is survived by his wife Jennifer (Veile) Wetherbee of Worland; parents, Neil and Madelon Wetherbee of Worland; daughters, Michelle Wetherbee of Yuma, CO; Kristen Wetherbee of Sheridan, WY; Morgan (Alec) Vines of Bremerton, WA; brothers, Jerry Wetherbee of Worland, WY and John (Julie) Wetherbee of Worland, WY; niece Jill (Jeff Anderson), and two great nephews Isiaha and Kylar; his Little Brother Jaims of Worland.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm, June 1, 2019 at the Washakie Museum. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to honor the Washakie Hospital Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wyoming c/o Veile Mortuary P.O. Box 730 Worland, WY 82401.
