First Worland fashion show this Friday

Event raises funds for Worland Blue Jays

WORLAND – Worland’s first fashion show will be at Pioneer Square Friday night at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The show is a fundraiser for the Worland Blue Jays baseball team to raise expenses for traveling and other necessities.

The Worland Blue Jays is a Senior Babe Ruth baseball team with players from Worland, Rock Springs and Otto. Players are ages 16 to 18 years old. Their coaches are Robert Cordenas and Coy Larkins.

The Blue Jays will be escorting models wearing clothing featured from many local businesses including Smudge Prints, Frandson Safety, Main Street Styles & Trends, Hasco, as well as clothing from some private designers.

Along with the fashion show, several tables will be set up for raffles and door prizes. Entertainment, including lip sync battles, is also planned for the evening.

According to planner Lisa Vega, the idea arose when Janet’s Boutique and Shopko closed down. She said fashion show organizers saw the event as a great opportunity to show what other stores in town offer. Vega expressed hope that this would become an annual event, raising funds for different organizations each year

The public is asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the free evening of entertainment.
