WORLAND – The Washakie County Fair Board voted to change the starting time and day that the youth rodeo would start during fair week.
This change was brought up by board member Marty Cross, and it a motion to move the rodeo to Thursday night during fair starting at 7 p.m. was approved.
With this change it forced the board to move the change time of the beef show up an hour to 2 p.m. in order to ensure that the kids would be able to get their animals washed after the show and be able to get prepared for the rodeo on time.
“We have been having the kids rodeo on Friday morning,” Cross said. “Parents and grandparents have not been able to make it, and for them to be able to see the kids compete, it should be in the evening.”
Unfortunately, with this change, in order to pay for the lighting fees, there will be an entry fee, that has not yet been determined.
The other events at night will remain the same as scheduled from last year, with pig wrestling being on Monday, ranch rodeo on Wednesday, and the normal rodeo being on Friday evening with other entertainment being provided on the other nights.
OTHER BUSINESS
Another activity that was approved during the meeting was for a cornhole tournament to take place during the live music at the fair. There will be a youth tournament as well as an adult one taking place during the festivities.
A cover was approved based on the entries for the fair book.
Discussion regarding what entertainment would be provided to kids was discussed pertaining to bounce houses, but no decision was made between the two final options.
