Prevention Coalition seeks county residents input

WORLAND – The Washakie County Prevention Coalition will be having a survey sent out through the Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center (WYSAC) in order to gather information about what Washakie County residents believe is happening with the local area youth regarding alcohol use and substance use.

According to Sheri Gunderson and Sarah Garcia from Youth Alternatives, about one-third of Washakie County households should have received a letter from WYSAC within the last couple of weeks regarding the survey. The letter states residents have an option to take the survey online, but paper surveys will also be dispersed in the coming weeks.

The survey is completely anonymous and randomized, only members of the household over the age of 18 will be able to answer the survey.

Gunderson and Garcia decided to do a survey such as this because over the years the prevention coalition has always received information through these surveys from students in Worland and Ten Sleep area schools.

Now they are seeking information from adults in households regarding what they believe about the youth in Worland, and how the problems can be solved. All recipients of the survey are encouraged to answer as it will be completely anonymous for the prevention coalition. The data will help the coalition come up with more ideas to help reduce alcohol and substance use within youth in Washakie County.
