WORLAND – With a January due date Alyssa Keller and her husband Cody of Worland did not think they would be having the first baby born in the new year and the new decade. However, when she opted to move up the date for her cesarean delivery on Jan. 2, that's exactly what happened, when Lucas Paul Keller came into the world at Banner Health Washakie Medical Center in Worland.
Alyssa Keller said she had the option of moving up the date by a few days. Initially she wanted to bump it up nearly two weeks to be in 2019, to be included in that calendar year's insurance coverage and deductible, she said.
Keller said she arrived at the hospital at 6:15 a.m. for the cesarean and Lucas was born at 9:11 a.m., Jan. 2, 2020. He weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce and measured 19 inches.
In celebration of having the first baby of the year, the Kellers received a Washakie Medical Center gift basket filled with toys and baby necessities. Alyssa Keller said one of the items was a homemade blanket.
Lucas joins a big brother, Holden, 2, at home. Alyssa said Holden is "very excited" about his younger brother calling him "his baby."
The Kellers, born and raised in Worland, have been married for five years.
