Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

David Ray Seghetti

David Ray Seghetti, 70-year-old Worland resident, passed away March 3, 2020 at the Washakie Medical Center, with his family by his side.

Dave was born in Worland on September 30, 1949, to Jack Omaro and Sevilla (Smith) Seghetti. He attended Worland High School, graduating in 1969. In that same year Dave joined the United States Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged from service in 1976. He married Susan Ann Wilson on October 3, 1970, and to this union, Shane and Sherri were born. Dave was working for Worland Oxygen at the time of their marriage and a few short weeks after the wedding, the business was destroyed by fire. He was employed by Coors, the City of Worland and Halliburton, where he worked for 35 years.

In the 1970s Dave decided to volunteer for the Worland Fire Department, retiring after 15 years of dedicated service. He thought highly of the crew, often staying after training to satisfy his love of a good pinochle game. He also served on Washakie County Search and Rescue for a couple of years.

He drove school bus as a student driver and then again after retiring from Halliburton for 3 years. Dave loved to share his barbecue cooking. For 15 years he ran a BBQ stand at Halliburton's annual golf tournament in Cody, Wyoming. His other hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting and 4-wheeling, essentially anything that had to do with being in the mountains was a favorite pastime. In his later years, the lake held that same magnetism that drew him there as often as time would permit.

Dave was a generous, caring and giving individual. He was outgoing and not afraid to engage others in conversation. He enjoyed coaching his son's t-ball team and never missed an opportunity to teach his children good work ethic. "If you are working, then do a good job at it!" he would tell them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janet Mathesen, brothers, Ralph and Maurice, brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Sheesley and father-in-law, Lloyd Wilson.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Susan; son Shane (Courtney) Seghetti, all of Worland; daughter, Sherri (Brian) Westlake of Conesville, Iowa; grandchildren: Samantha (Tim) Svalina of Topeka, Kansas and Addison "Bugs" Seghetti; brothers, James "Jimmy" Seghetti of Moss Point, Mississippi, Wesley (Kitty) Seghetti of Anoka, Minnesota; sister, Virginia Sheesley; mother-in-law, Beverly Smith; sister-in-law, Pam Seghetti both of Worland, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at the United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military honors provided by the American Legion Post #44 and the Wyoming National Guard. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
