TEN SLEEP - The Ten Sleep school board met on Monday night for their regularly scheduled meeting to set a date for their budget session, as well as approve a new contract for Principal Levi Collins.
The school board ended the night in executive session to discuss personnel, and upon returned to open session to unanimously approve a contract extension for Collins through June of 2022. This extension came after Superintendent Jimmy Phelps’ contract was extended at last month’s meeting through June of 2020.
Earlier in the night, the board decided to set a date of April 21 at 7 p.m. to host a budget workshop. The board also passed a second reading of policy 6.3 with no changes. This policy will allow for administration to approve out-of-state trips and report the trip to the board if the trip is set to occur “before the next scheduled board meeting.”
The board held a discussion regarding possible changes to the reorganization of elementary grades at the school, where first and second grades are currently combined, along with fourth and fifth grades being combined this school year. The board strictly held discussion on this subject, and Phelps expects to present a recommendation to the board next month.
