TEN SLEEP — Two people have filed for the office of mayor of Ten Sleep to replace outgoing Mayor Jack Haggerty.
The filing period for Ten Sleep’s May 5 election ended on Friday. Current council member Ernie Beckley, who is in the midst of a four-year term, has filed for mayor, along with David Lyman.
There are two four-year council seats up this year as well. Amy Truman has filed to retain her seat. Chuck Holmes is not seeking re-election to his seat.
Three other candidates have filed — Nichole Norman, Steve Criner and Bart Dewitt.
Clerk Lori Hughes said the election is scheduled for May 5 with the polling place at the Ten Sleep Senior Center.
Location may have to change if the Ten Sleep Senior Center remains closed due to COVID-19 (coronavirus). The governor and the state health officer issued an order closing public places and limiting gatherings to under 10 people. The orders are in effect until April 3 currently.
