Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Henry Freeman Hansen “Hank”, 90-year-old Worland resident died on March 23, 2020 at the Washakie Medical Center.
Hank was born July 6, 1929 in Big Horn, Wyoming, one of two sons born to Alexander and Alice Adra (Misner) Hansen. He attended schools in Big Horn and Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Sheridan college and worked with his father, a building contractor, until being drafted into the United States Army. After discharge, he returned home and to the contracting business. He married Caroline Cone on May 7, 1955 in Sheridan. His main career was in the Forest Service and BLM, working briefly before that on several ranches. At the Forest Service and BLM his usual work was in engineering, however, his primary interest was in firefighting, in logistics, and he served in that capacity on many fires. After retirement he developed an interest in woodcarving, and he was known for beautiful sculptures of birds, animals, vehicles and marine figures.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Caroline, daughter, Heidi (Mike) Kremer of Burbank, California, brother, Arnold (Barbara) Hansen of Sheridan, Wyoming.
