Ten Sleep council approves first budget reading

TTEN SLEEP – The Ten Sleep Town Council met in a special meeting on Wednesday, May 6, after an election on Tuesday to determine the new mayor and council members.

The council approved a first reading of the budget for the 2020-21 year, and noted that this budget did not see many changes, but may change as the process moves along prior to the final reading.

The council also amended the current budget for the 2019-20, to include the Cottonwood Street and First Street projects. The projects will be funded with one-cent tax funding. The project was originally supposed to be in the budget for next year, but the council is hoping to pay as much as they can for that project prior to next year’s budget.

It was reported that the Cottonwood Street has been widened and is ready for pavement, and First Street is nearly ready for pavement as well, ahead of their original May 15 deadline.

All of the building permits that were presented were approved, two for room additions, as well as a permit for decks to be built.

A mid-month meeting is set to be held on Wednesday, May 20.
