Beverly Ann Wilson Smith

Longtime Worland resident Beverly Ann Smith passed away on May 13, 2020 at her home in Worland, surrounded by her loving family.

Beverly was born in Basin, WY on July 3, 1929, a twin daughter of Katherine Ann (Sterkle) and August John Kleinschmidt. At the age of three, she moved with her family to a farm about 8 miles north of Worland, where she attended the Durkee School until the eighth grade. Beverly then attended high school in Worland where she graduated from Washakie County High School in 1948. While in school she played the saxophone in the school band and was active in Home-Economics Club.

After graduation Beverly started her lifetime career at the Washakie Memorial Hospital in 1948 by becoming a Certified Nursing Aide through on the job training. She became a surgical technician and worked in surgery for many years. She had received several formal recognitions from the hospital during her 44 years of service.

On August 10, 1952 she married Lloyd Leon Wilson in Worland. That started a second concurrent career as a farm wife and mother. She helped with all aspects of farming including driving beet trucks during fall harvest, being a 4-H mom, and feeding the farm animals. She and Lloyd Leon later developed part of their farm into the Wilson Addition which is part of the southeast corner of Worland. Lloyd Leon died on June 18, 1987.

Her hobbies included camping with her family, bowling, knitting/crocheting quilts for her family, gardening and canning vegetables, and volunteering to help in the community. She also enjoyed gambling trips to Riverton and Deadwood. Additionally, all you had to say was "lets go fishing" and she was ready to go!! Her favorite spot along with many others was down at Boysen State Park.

She was a member of the Worland United Methodist Church, the Worland DOES and the Worland Elks Lodge where she was the first Woman Elk of The Year in 1999-2000. Beverly was a member of the Worland American Legion Auxiliary and loved socializing with her friends.

On May 12, 1990 she and Paul Smith were married and enjoyed being together until his death on December 25, 1995.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; by her parents; and by her siblings including an infant sister Lucille Kleinschmidt, her sister Myron McPike, and brothers Allen Kleinschmidt, Merland Kleinschmidt, Floyd Kleinschmidt, and her twin sister Barbara Lee Clarebout; and her son-in-law David Seghetti.
