Truman returns to Ten Sleep Council; budget passes final reading

WORLAND – The Ten Sleep Town Council met in a special mid-month June meeting on Tuesday, June 23, and appointed a familiar face back to the council.

At the start of the meeting, the council voted to appoint Amy Truman back to the council, Truman narrowly lost her re-election in May but applied for the seat after it opened up at the beginning of the month. Truman was voted into the seat by the council, ahead of Kevin Couch who was the other person to apply for the position.

After appointing Truman back to the council, the third and final reading of the 2020-21 fiscal year budget was approved. According to Mayor Ernie Beckley, the only changes that happened from second to third reading were they were unable to move a maintenance worker from part to full-time, and funds were set to be moved over to the new fiscal year in order to finish paying the Cottonwood and First Street projects. No rate increases are set in this year’s budget, and the budget is set to be similar to last years.

Seven permits for the craft fair on the Fourth of July were approved with additional ones pending. The council agreed to allow for Beckley to approve additional ones for the Fourth. Haley’s Concession was approved as a vendor for downtown.
