Returning teacher steps up to help district in time of need

WORLAND – Jeana Croft is not a stranger to the classroom in Worland, she was previously the family and consumer science (FACS) teacher at the middle school before moving away, and when Brenda Trippel decided to file paperwork to vacate her position for this school year due to COVID-19, Croft stepped into her position.

Croft was the FACS teacher at the middle school before moving to Cody four years ago for her husband's job, so experience filling in for Trippel was not a problem when she decided to take the job for this year. Under the terms of the paperwork that Trippel filed, her job will be available to her should she desire to return next year.

Croft received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and her Master of Education from Northern Arizona University. She began her teaching career in Mesa, Arizona, for nine years prior to moving to Worland and then moving to Cody, accepting a position as the Powell Middle School Title 1 Reading Specialist before accepting the position here.

Croft's husband still works in Cody so she commutes between Worland and Cody on the weekends to spend time with him. Prior to moving to Cody, Croft and her husband raised their four daughters together in Worland.

In her free time Croft enjoys travelling and getting "to explore this wonderful world that we live in." Being able to take her grandchildren on her trips is a new, fun experience for Croft.

She enjoys hiking, camping and exploring the beautiful state of Wyoming in her free time. When she does get free time, other than exploring she enjoys to read, cook and sew.

Since returning to Washakie County School District No. 1, Croft's first month has been amazing. The staff and students have all been so kind and helpful as she finds her way around her new classroom.

When she left, the juniors and seniors now were sixth and seventh graders, so her coming back to teach and renew her acquaintances with these students has been great as she has seen what extraordinary young men and women they have become.

Her favorite thing about teaching is when her students are excited about learning something new and enjoy the relationship they build through working together.
