Board begins mulling 2021 fair entertainment

WORLAND — With this year’s Washakie County Fair fading into a memory, the Washakie County Fair Board turned its attention to the 2021 fair.

The 2021 fair will be July 24-July 31. The board has already asked Daniel Kosel to handle the musical lineup for the fair.

During Monday’s meeting, board member Tamara Drake noted that some people have complained about the music being the same time as the grandstand events. Beth Shaffer added that the music was hard to hear during the Monster Truck event.

They discussed possibly having music on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and not on Saturday. The possibility of bringing back the teen dance was also discussed.

In other entertainment discussions they discussed whether they should keep the ranch rodeo in the lineup, and discussed possible additions including jousting. Shaffer said she also received an email from Midget Wrestling Warriors.

In a previous meeting Marty Cross expressed a desire to bring back Live A Little Productions Monster Trucks tour. CEO Skyler Neibaur has expressed interest in coming annually and expanding the show.

With only three members of the board in attendance Monday, the board did not make any decisions on entertainment.

In other fair board news, bookkeeper Sandy Richard said the board should begin working on the next budget in March and the budget should include expenses for new goat pens and for a covering for the show arena.

Drake reported that the 4-H Council is looking for someone or an organization to take over organizing and running the 4-H Round Robin Showmanship.

The next meeting will be Nov. 9.
