Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

More than 60 volunteer on Day of Service

WORLAND - More than 60 volunteers came out and helped support Ten Sleep and Worland organizations and clean up the Gebo Cemetery.

During the Day of Service, organized by the Worland Stake Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that includes women who live in the Big Horn Basin communities of Greybull, Shell, Basin, Manderson, Hyattville, Ten Sleep, Worland, Kirby and Thermopolis, there were projects in Basin, Worland, Ten Sleep and Gebo.

According to Julie Edholm there were 29 youth and 21 adults volunteering for the Worland food drive. There were 52 boxes filled with two pickup trucks. They also received one package of disposable masks.

For donations to Rachel's Closet at Worland Middle School, they received a ton of socks, bras, 1 pair of gloves, a pair of girls boots, 19 deodorants, three bottles of shampoo, three bottles of conditioner, boys and girls underwear, soap. 

Donations to the Crisis Prevention and Response Center included soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, feminine products, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant, toilet paper, toothbrushes, baby wipes, diapers and hair spray. 

In Ten Sleep, donations for the crisis center included paper towels, toilet paper, metal bed frame, headboard, magazine stand, shampoo and conditioner. 

Thirteen people volunteered in cleaning up the Gebo Cemetery on the blustery, windy fall day Saturday. 

BASIN/GREYBULL

For Basin and Greybull, they are continuing to accept donations to C.A.R.E.S. (Crisis and Referral Emergency Service). Contact Linda Jolley via text for more information at 307-921-2459.

Jolley said donations are being accepted through Saturday and can be dropped off at her home in Greybull, at 216 Third Avenue North.

Items being collected include feminine hygiene products as well as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and other personal hygiene products.

They had a few volunteers making cards for nursing home residents but plan to hold the activity again to make more cards for residents at the Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home.
