Public hearing Feb. 17 on Big Horn Regional rate increase

WORLAND — The Big Horn Regional Joint Powers Board will be holding a public hearing at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the office in Worland, 1100 North 10th.

The hearing is to take comments on the proposed resolution to amend the Big Horn Regional water rates. It would establish an Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU) rate of $11.50 per EDU per month up from $10.24 per EDU, and a gallonage charge of $1 .05 per each 1,000 gallons or fraction thereof to member agencies, up from 45 cents per 1,000 gallons.

The hearing will be part of the board’s regular meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m. The regular meeting will be recessed at 7 p.m. for the hearing and then resume once the hearing is completed. There will be no formal presentation at the hearing but it will be a time of taking comments and answering questions from the public.

Following the hearing the board will take action on the rate resolution at its March 17 meeting, with rates going into effect July 1.
