TEN SLEEP – Washakie County School District No. 2 is seeking input from stakeholders regarding a potential transition to a four-day school week this upcoming school year.
This meeting will be at 7 p.m. next Monday, Feb. 22, via Zoom.
The meeting will be held by a task force that was formed by Superintendent Jimmy Phelps prior to the school board meeting on Feb. 8 where the idea was first brought to the board. The decision to form a task force came after increasing interest from faculty members to implement a four-day week.
The task force includes parents, teachers, students along with other faculty in order to look into the issue and present to the school board what they believe would be the correct course of action at the March meeting.
Ten Sleep School currently operates on a schedule with a four-day full schedule and then an alternating early release schedule on Fridays that releases at 12:55 p.m.
The task force will be seeking public input through multiple means of communication and this meeting is one opportunity to present information or opinions on the subject.
If the board does choose to opt for a four-day week it will need to be approved by the Wyoming Department of Education before May 3.
