Jones signs LOI to play for Iowa Western

WORLAND - Continuing her education and volleyball career at the next level, Worland High School senior Denali Jones signed her letter of intent to play for Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Feb. 27 at WHS.

The Iowa Western Reivers are a junior college program and are currently the fifth-ranked NJCAA DI volleyball team in the nation.

"They're one of the top junior college programs, and they're pretty close to my sister," said Denali Jones. "So I won't be too far away from home. I also really liked the environment and coach, and that's another reason I picked them."

The recruiting process was different due to COVID-19 precautions and that Iowa Western was playing through their season, but Jones enjoyed her time with Reivers coach Alicia Williams.

"It was rough with all of the pandemic stuff, and they're going through their season right now. She's trying to have a successful season but also trying to find next year's team. I was able to go and play with them, and it just felt right, and the coach is super nice, and I really like her," said Jones.

For her WHS volleyball career, Jones played 278 sets, had 653 kills, 231 blocks, 88 solo blocks and 88 aces.

Along with furthering her education, Jones wants to keep playing volleyball for as long as she can.

"I want to be able to keep going. With her [Reivers coach Alicia Williams], she's had a lot of players go on and continue their volleyball career, and I felt that she could help me further my volleyball career," said Jones.
