Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – Washakie County residents can search for Easter eggs and candy on land and sea, or rather water with two traditional Easter egg hunts and one at the Worland Aquatic Center.
The Worland Aquatic Center will have two opportunities for youth ages 3 and older to participate in a hunt this Sautrday. There will be three zones for different ages groups at each session.
Session one will run from 1-2 p.m. and session 2, for the same age groups, will run from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
There is a limit this year of 75 patrons in the pool. While the event is free, tickets are available at the front desk due to the limited availability.
Donations will be accepted to help raise funds for future events at the aquatic center.
Once all eggs are found after each session, patrons are welcome to continue to swim for the remainder of that session.
The hunt on land in Worland will be at Newell Sargent Park on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. hosted by the American Legion Post 44. This hunt started back into the 1950s, according to Legion member Terry Bankert. Traditionally they have had about 300 children participate. Last year’s event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There will be separate hunts at the park for different age groups, birth to 4 years old, ages 5 to 7 and ages 8 to 10.
The other hunt Sunday is sponsored by the Ten Sleep/Hyattville Lions Club at Ten Sleep School football field starting at 1 p.m.
The kids will be split up into four age groups — birth to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12.
Prizes and ice cream sandwiches will be given away. Three bicycles will be given away, one each in the three older age groups. Stuffed animals will be given away in the younger age group.
Ted Cullen said the American Legion Post 44 has provided some candy for the Ten Sleep hunt, as they have in year’s past.
According to the National Weather Service office in Riverton, the weather for Easter Sunday is mostly sunny with a high near 72.
