Greybull man dies in crash north of Worland

On April 19, 2021, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 173 on US Highway 20 north of Worland, Wyoming. At 10:25 a.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision.

A 2001 Buick LeSabre was headed north on US Highway 20 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road while negotiating a curve to the left. The Buick entered the southbound lane and collided with a 2016 Volvo Conventional commercial truck.

The driver of the Buick has been identified as 73-year-old Greybull, Wyoming resident Alvaro Serna Zamudio. Serna Zamudio was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Volvo commercial truck has been identified as 68-year-old Alberta, Canada resident Eugene G. Klein. Klein was wearing his seatbelt and not injured in the crash.

Speed on the part of Serna Zamudio is being investigated as a potential contributing factor.

This is the 26th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 22 in 2020, 45 in 2019, and 22 in 2018 to date.
