WORLAND - Coming off a disappointing loss to Mountain View on May 1, the Worland Lady Warriors soccer team bounced back in a big way last weekend.
The No. 4-ranked, according to WyoPreps, Lady Warriors (8-4) got the weekend started with a commanding 3-0 road win over the No. 2-ranked Lander Valley Lady Tigers (8-3-1) on May 7. Then avoiding any letdown, Worland picked up another clean sheet with a 4-0 win over the Pinedale Lady Wranglers (2-7-1) on May 8 at WHS.
"I couldn't be more proud of this team," said WHS girls soccer coach Danielle Warren. "There were times where I had to have honest conversations with girls about their spot or look at some other things. And they were like, 'Coach, let's do this.' The girls worked their butts off all week in practice, and I feel like it was similar to how we were ready to play Lander the first time. Before the rescheduling. Defensively, the girls played so hard, and now our offense is coming together. It was awesome to watch."
Yahaira Aguayo had a brace in both games. Morgan Wagner scored a goal against Lander and Tymberlynn Crippen and Carley Yule had a goal each against Pinedale.
Kylie Warren led the team with two assists against Lander.
The Lady Warriors' passing in both games was the best it has been this season. From the backline to the front, the Lady Warriors sent accurate through balls to each other that allowed their teammates to run in stride.
"It was a bunch of different things coming together. Again, I couldn't be more proud of them. It was a lot of fun to watch everything come together. It was like the ball was stuck to their feet, and they were making excellent passes," said Warren.
The Lady Warriors close out the regular season with a home game, senior night, Friday vs. Powell at 4 p.m. and travel to Cody on Saturday for a noon game.
If Worland plays like they did last week with their in-sync passing and improved defensive play, they'll have a much better outing than in their 6-1 loss on April 20 vs. No. 1 Cody.
"Knowing that we belong here and we've worked for this. If we can keep doing that and keep working together and believing in each other, we'll be good," said Warren.
Senior night will take place after the girls varsity game.
