Samuel John Marshall

Samuel John Marshall, joined the angels June 1, 2021 from complications following a back surgery in Billings, MT. The Good Lord wanted him.

Sam was a dedicated husband to his wife, Carolyn Jo Walsh, and devoted to his children and grandchildren. Sam was born in Red Lodge, MT to parents Helen and John with sister Nadine. They owned a farm near Laurel, MT where they raised crops and dairy cattle. He graduated from Laurel High School and graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Business/ Teaching. He also was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Sam was an active member of his community. He was a Mason, Shriner, Elk and Rotary Club President. He was a lifelong management leader in the Boy Scouts of America and was proud of his 3 sons (Dustin, Brandon, Bryan) and 3 grandsons (Marshall, Stephen, Samuel) all who became Eagle Scouts.

An officer in the Army Reserves, Sam gave his time during the Vietnam War.

Working at Montana Dakota Utilities, Sam served in management until he retired after 40 years of service.

The family then moved "Home" to Wyoming with his wife Carolyn Jo. Living in Thermopolis was Sam's dream and he often called it a "little bit of heaven." Sam loved working on the Walsh family ranch with his wife Carolyn Jo and good "buddy" Russ (Janelle).

At present, Sam was President of the Hot Springs County Historical Society and also President of the Round Top Good Sam's Club. He was a church member and his family and friends were a wide circle.

He will be missed by daughter, Angela (Steve) Marshall, Stephen, Karolina; son, Dustin (Maggie) Samuel, Alexander, Michael; and daughter, Teri Jo. "Brother" Jerry (Kathy); nephew J.T. (Haley) Kooper, Baxter, Booker, Skylar; niece, Jeralynn (Ron) Olivia; nephew Chris (Tory) Jessica, Christopher and Grandchildren Brandon, Crystale (Jared) Alexander, Colton, Travis; Bryan (Tana) Benson, Benjamin, Isabella.

Sam's wife, Carolyn Jo Walsh, was the "light of his life" and happily married 54 years. Sam was a good man to know...A new star is in the sky!

Family graveside services will be held later in the summer.
