Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Recently a reader came into the office to purchase an ad and asked that it be placed on page 2. We told her we would try and accommodate the request and her reply was that she did not read anything passed page 2, which I found unfortunate as there is a lot of news on the other 18 pages in the Northern Wyoming News.
Now if you are reading this you are one who at least reads to page 4 and we here at the Northern Wyoming News appreciate that.
Every week — beyond page 2 – we have the church schedules for churches in Worland, Ten Sleep, Thermopolis, Basin, Greybull and Shell for those who wish to worship, be you a visitor to the area or someone trying a new church.
We also have our fun page and the past few weeks the comics have been pretty funny. This week’s “News of the Weird” feature is particularly entertaining.
Last week past page 2 we had a feature on a new business, and update on a construction project and an update on the 9-11 remembrance service being planned for next month. We also had the winning recipe of the 2021 Rhubarb Rhevival. The runner up recipe is in this week.
We had additional fair coverage last week. This week we have more Nowoodstock coverage, including some features on some area musical talent.
Last week we had a feature on the Worland Fire Department awards.
And if you go beyond the A section, you get some local sports features, this week we have a story on the Worland High School golf team and some outdoors stories that we feel are fitting for our readers.
There are the classifieds filled with rentals, for sale items and yard sales, plenty of them this week, horoscopes, school and senior center menus and so much more.
This week if you are feeling adventurous we encourage you to go beyond the B section into the special C section, our 76th annual Big Horn Basin Edition.
This edition has changed over the years but we are proud of this year’s product. It brings features on some talented authors, some old and new businesses, some history and some people in the area.
Our staff worked on the section over the summer to bring this to you. If you get stuck on page A2, however, or even here on A4 you will miss out on a lot of news in the community and the Big Horn Basin.
And, as you are reading this know that we are already hard at work on the Aug. 26 issue which will include coverage of the vaccine mandate protest, the BBQ & Bluegrass Festival, more news from the county commissioner meeting, just to name a few.
Do not just read the stories, make sure to take a gander at the advertisers and what your local businesses are up to in this community. There’s news value there as well.
Some folks say nothing happens in smaller communities but ever week we are able to fill 20 pages to keep you informed.
So now that you have made it this far into the Northern Wyoming News, for those of you who are not already cover-to-cover readers (we thank you for being you), keep reading through the rest of the newspaper. You’ll be glad you did.
